Amherst County Tornado Recovery Support
GER3 supported a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity by bringing tornado recovery supplies to Amherst County, Virginia. After being hit by an EF 2 tornado on April 15, 2018, the county is still recovering and rebuilding the over 140 houses and structures severely damaged by the storm.
The Habitat for Humanity chapter in Winchester, Virginia supported recovery efforts by collecting items for specific recovery needs, identified by the Habitat in Amherst County. Donations included lighting, sinks, countertops, bathtubs and wood.
On July 19th, GER3 partnered with Habitat in Winchester to support the delivery of the supplies to Amherst County. GER3 provided a truck for the transportation as well as several volunteers to assist in loading/unloading the truck and the transportation of donations.
GER3 hopes to continue to form a partnership with Habitat to support relief efforts in local emergencies.
